What to Expect
During a Children’s Eye Exam?
The American Optometric Association recommends scheduling the first comprehensive eye exam for children around 3 years of age. However, if you notice any signs of visual problems or have concerns about your child’s eyes, it is never too early to have an eye exam.
During the exam, we will assess various aspects of your child’s eye health and vision and always provide opportunities to ask questions to get more detail on your child’s eye care needs.
Visual Acuity
Using age-appropriate charts or interactive methods, we can measure your child’s ability to see objects clearly at different distances.
Eye Alignment & Movement
Our optometrists can evaluate how well your child’s eyes work together and track objects to help them develop proper eye coordination and muscle control.
Refraction
Using non-invasive techniques, we can determine if your child requires vision correction, such as glasses, to achieve clear and comfortable vision.
Eye Health Evaluation
We can examine the health of your child’s eyes, checking for any signs of abnormalities or eye conditions that may require further attention.
