The care and health of our patients is our highest priority. We strive to create an outstanding patient experience through excellent clinical care, professionalism, and compassion. We value our patients and their families and want to support every aspect of their eyes and vision.
Born in Gary, Dr. Moses (Doc Dad) received his Bachelor and Doctor of Optometry degrees from Indiana University School of Optometry in 1972. In 1973, he completed IU’s first post-graduate residency concentrating in general practice, pediatric and geriatric eye care. In 1975, he opened his practice and has managed its growth to 11 locations serving Northwest Indiana.
In 1998, he served as President of the Indiana Optometric Association. In both 1999 and 2011, he received the “Distinguished Service to Optometry” honors and in 2002, his peers named him “Optometrist of the Year.” Furthermore, he was recognized for his service to the optometric community in 2005 and 2017.
As chair of the Third Party Care Committee, Dr. Moses oversees optometric participation of federal, state, and commercial health plans and has published articles on health care reform. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry, and member of the Indiana and American Optometric Associations.
In his spare time, Doc enjoys (attempting) golf, boating, flying, and spending time with his family.
Robert J. Moses, OD
Dr. Robert J. Moses (Dr. Rob) is a Board Certified Optometrist.
Dr. Rob was raised in Merrillville and Valparaiso, Indiana, and received both his Bachelor and Doctor of Optometry degrees from the Indiana University School of Optometry in 2006.
A second generation optometrist, Dr. Rob has been around the profession for his entire life. During his schooling, his external rotation sites included an emphasis on disease management, contact lens evaluation, and pediatrics.
Upon graduation, Dr. Rob represented his peers from the Indiana Optometric Association at the American Optometric Association advocacy meeting. At these meetings he met with several legislators to discuss patient rights, Medicare/Medicaid legislation, and child vision issues including the InfantSee program. Dr. Rob is also a member of both the Indiana and American Optometric Associations, as well as the Contact Lens Section of the AOA.
Fluent in Spanish, he caters to the needs of the Hispanic population of Northwest Indiana. In his free time, Dr. Rob is a sports fanatic and an avid reader.
Jennifer (Moses) Kohn, OD
Dr. Jennifer Kohn (Dr. Jen) was born and raised in Valparaiso, Indiana. She attended Indiana University, Bloomington for her undergraduate studies where she earned an honors degree in biology, as well as receiving minors in chemistry and anthropology. She earned her Optometric Doctorate from the Indiana School of Optometry in 2008. During optometry school, Dr. Jen served on the IU Student Organization committee and advocated for student and optometric rights in Washington, D.C.
After graduation, she continues to advocate for the health and safety of patients as the Northwest Trustee for the Indiana Optometric Association and for legislative rights for optometrists on the Federal Advocacy Committee with the American Optometric Association.
She was a founding member of the Young Optometry Leadership Organization in Indiana and is a board member for Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity in IL, where she volunteers her time providing eye care to underserved communities.
For her dedication, Dr. Jen was honored with the Young Optometrist of the Year Award for Indiana in 2018 and subsequently earned the national title of Young Optometrist of the Year in 2019. She is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry.
Dr. Jen joined her father’s practice after graduation in 2008 here at Moses Eyecare when there were only 4 locations with 4 doctors. She helped the practice forge ahead to one that focuses on cutting edge patient care with over 100 staff members, 14 doctors, and 11 offices.
When she isn’t working, Dr. Jen enjoys outdoor sports, scuba diving, reading, traveling and spending time with her husband, Andrew, and her dog, Miller.
Virginia Bonilla, OD
Dr. Virginia Bonilla was born and raised in Northwest Indiana. She earned her doctorate from Inter-American University School of Optometry, obtained a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology—with an emphasis on genetics—and a minor in Spanish from Purdue University.
Prior to becoming an Optometrist, she worked several years in the field of cytogenetics at Rush University Medical Center. Optometric clinical rotations included pediatric optometry, low vision care, ocular disease management, and ophthalmic post-op care. She is fluent in both English and Spanish and practices full scope family eye care. Her professional interests include specialty contact lens, ocular disease, and dry eye management.
Dr. Bonilla is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Indiana Optometric Association. She has participated in service missions with VOSH, Volunteers of Optometric Service to Humanity, offering vision care for underserved communities.
When not at work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, participating in church activities, and traveling.
Justin Kucsera, OD
Dr. Justin Kucsera (Dr. Justin) was born and raised in Crown Point, IN. He attended Ball State University for his undergraduate studies where he earned an honors degree in Biology with a Chemistry minor. He continued on to Indiana University where he earned his Doctor of Optometry from Indiana University School of Optometry in 2010.
During his education, Dr. Justin completed multiple externships across the Midwest with an emphasis on pediatrics, vision therapy, and ocular disease. Dr. Justin provides full scope optometry, specializing in specialty contact lenses (scleral lenses), myopia management, ocular disease, pediatrics, in-office vision therapy, as well as cataract and Lasik co-management.
He is active as a preceptor for optometric interns from both Indiana University and Chicago College of Optometry. Dr. Justin is a member of the American and Indiana Optometric Associations, as well as the College of Optometry in Vision Development.
He currently resides in Crown Point with his wife and three children. In his free time, Dr. Justin enjoys working out, watching and playing sports, traveling and spending time with his family and friends.
Nicole Albright, OD
Dr. Nicole Albright was born and raised in Merrillville, IN. She attended University of Indianapolis for her undergraduate studies, where she earned her degree in Spanish. She earned her Doctor of Optometry from Indiana University School of Optometry in 2008. Then, she completed a residency in ocular disease and pre- and post-op surgical management at Bennett and Bloom Eye Center in Louisville, KY.
As Clinic Director at Moses Eyecare, Dr. Albright practices full-scope optometry with focus on specialty contact lens fittings (scleral contact lenses), myopia management, perioperative care and ocular disease management. She also serves as the externship coordinator for optometric student interns from both Indiana University and Chicago College of Optometry.
Dr. Albright is an active member of the Indiana Optometric Association, serving as the President and Key Legislative Contact for the local optometric society. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. Fluent in Spanish, she is able to serve Hispanic patients in Northwest Indiana.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling to Colorado with her husband, son and daughter and spending time outdoors with family, friends and her two dogs.
Ashley Doolin, OD
Dr. Ashley Doolin (Dr. Ashley) was born and raised in Dyer, IN. She attended Butler University in Indianapolis, IN where she earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry with a minor in Spanish in 2009. While there, she was one of the Bulldog’s biggest fans and was captain of their cheerleading squad.
She then continued on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University in 2013 and graduated as part of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor’s Society. Dr. Ashley is a member of the Indiana and American Optometric Associations. She enjoys practicing full scope eye care with an emphasis on family care, specialty contact lenses, LASIK and cataract co-management, as well as myopia management.
She currently lives in Crown Point, IN with her husband, son, and two basset hounds. She enjoys spending her free time with her family and friends, being outdoors, and is a frequent volunteer at the Lake County Animal Shelter. She and her husband also enjoy learning how to cook new foods as well as traveling whenever they can.
Sara Cubenas, OD
Dr. Sara Cubenas grew up in Merrillville and Valparaiso, Indiana, where she attended Valparaiso High School. At Indiana University, she majored in microbiology and was awarded early acceptance into the School of Optometry at the Indiana School of Optometry.
After graduation in 2007, she completed her post-graduate residency in ocular disease and primary care at the Fort Wayne Veterans Hospital. She has experience with primary care, LASIK and cataract co-management, contact lens fittings and ocular disease and most recently, has been certified in myopia management.
Dr. Cubenas is a member of the Indiana and American Optometric Associations and a board-certified optometrist as a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry.
Dr. Sara resides in Valparaiso with her husband and son. As a former high school gymnast from the region, she is a great supporter of the Valparaiso High School gymnastics team and enjoys traveling with her family.
Angela Fauth, OD
Dr. Angela Fauth was born and raised in Northwest Indiana. She received her bachelor’s degree in Biology with emphasis in pre-optometry and a minor in Spanish from Purdue University. She later obtained her Doctorate of Optometry from Indiana University. Her externships emphasized ocular disease, scleral contact lenses, pediatrics and primary care.
Throughout her optometric studies, she served as class representative for the Indiana University student chapter of the Indiana Optometric Association and also as President of both the American Optometric Student Association and National Optometric Student Association IU chapters.
She is passionate about staying involved in the world of optometry as well as in her local community. Fluent in English, Greek, and Spanish, Dr. Fauth is committed to caring for patients of diverse cultures and of all walks of life.
She currently resides in Winfield, IN with her husband and three daughters. When not in the office, Dr. Fauth can be found spending time with her family and volunteering in church activities. She enjoys traveling, music, and watching or playing sports including soccer, basketball, mixed martial arts and self-defense.
Alyssa Grkinich, OD
Dr. Alyssa Grkinich (Dr. G) was born and raised in Crown Point, Indiana. She was a 2010 graduate from Lake Central High School. She then attended Ball State University where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry and a minor in Dance Studies in 2014.
She continued her education at Indiana University where she earned her Doctorate of Optometry in 2018. Throughout her time there, she completed many externships across the country with an emphasis on primary care, pediatrics, LASIK and cataract co-management, ocular disease, and contact lenses.
Dr. G is a member of the College of Optometry in Vision Development (COVD), American Optometric Association (AOA) and Indiana Optometric Association (IOA).
She currently resides in Crown Point, Indiana with her husband. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, being crafty and traveling.
Francia Baez, OD
Dr. Francia Baez is from Orlando, Florida. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida in 2017 where she majored in Medical Science. She then went on to complete her master’s degree in medical science at the University of South Florida in 2019. She then furthered her education at Illinois College of Optometry (ICO) where she earned her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2024. She graduated Cum Laude and was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa and Tomb & Key Honor Societies. During her time at ICO, she completed her externship rotations in primary care, pediatrics, ocular disease, contact lens, and dry eye.
Dr. Baez has recently moved to St. John and is excited for her future in Northwest Indiana. In her free time, she enjoys being outside and visiting local coffee shops.
Loretta Eriks has been with Moses Eyecare Centers since 1987. Moses is honored to have her as a supervising team leader and she also oversees our contact lens department. Loretta has completed the highest level of paraoptometric certification and has won Paraoptometric of the Year for Indiana. Outside of Moses Eyecare, she enjoys deer hunting and traveling to Wisconsin to ride UTV trails with her husband Tim. She also enjoys spending time with her two daughters.
Brandi Garner
Brandi Garner started with Moses Eyecare in 2013 as a technician. Since then, she has managed our technician, front desk & call center teams. She is now one of our two supervising team leaders and is heavily focused on staffing and HR. Brandi has the ultimate goal of making sure everyone loves their job as much as she does and that they feel like a valued member of our team. In Brandi’s free time, she enjoys being a sports mom, reading and traveling with her husband.
Kathy Abel
Kathy leads the credentialing department at Moses and keeps the doctors licensed , insured and contracted with insurance companies. She has been helping in these roles since 2003. Kathy really enjoys her work and her coworkers. When she is not at work her time is spent in Indy with her grandson, on the phone with her other son in Denver or out with friends. During the summer the community pool is another favorite resting spot.
Becky Shoun
Becky has been with Moses Eyecare since 2016. She is currently the team leader for the optical department and shares leadership roles for the front desk, call center, and customer service. Her background in management, organization and customer service makes her an incredible asset. She has been married to her husband Anthony for 13 years and has two fur babies Max and Trapper. In her down time, she loves to read and crochet.
Jillian Jones
Jill was raised in Merrillville and has been a technician and trainer with Moses since 2016. She puts a lot of heart into the job and loves to help others learn and grow in the practice. She currently resides in Hobart with her boyfriend and kids. In her free time, Jill likes to spend time with friends and family. She also enjoys sports and plays in multiple women’s volleyball leagues around northwest Indiana.
